2025 HTUPAA Webinar – November

“This is not a drill: Fighting Right Wing Authoritarianism”

This is a perilous time for many workers who face the wrath of far-right insurgents and rampaging billionaires. In the past the HTUPAA has run webinars for its members to highlight current issues for continued learning opportunities. We invite you to join us to explore the possibilities for fighting back against this onslaught and generating renewed worker support for people-oriented policies.

For this fall, we are excited to announce a Zoom Webinar:

“This is not a drill: Fighting Right Wing Authoritarianism”
on
Wednesday, November 12, at 5:00-6:30 PM EST

We will discuss what is currently happening and how unions can help defend against the attacks on labor, human rights, and education in the current moment.

The speakers include:
Bill Fletcher, HTUP instructor and a long-time racial justice, labor, and international activist, scholar, and author. He has been involved in the labor movement for decades and is a widely known speaker and writer in print and on radio, television, and the Web. He has worked for several labor unions in addition to serving as a senior staff person in the national AFL-CIO.

Dora Sari– HTUP class of 2018- is a current union member and International Labour Organization (ILO) researcher. She is Hungarian, currently living in Zurich. Dora has not only personally experienced the authoritarian policies of Victor Orban, but she also does research on trade unions and democracy.

Stephanie Luce – HTUP instructor and Professor of Labor Studies at the School of Labor and Urban Studies, and Professor of Sociology at the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). She is the author of, “Practical Radicals: Seven Strategies to Change the World.” Professor Luce will share concrete methods to help fight the current attack on our democracy.
