INTERNATIONAL UNION of OPERATING ENGINEERS
2018
I am a 18 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. I served as a Business Representative for IUOE, Local 49 for approximately 4 years (2015-2018). After attending HTUP, I completed my Bachelor Degree (2018) and, in the fall of 2020, I began pursuing a Juris Doctorate at the University of Minnesota Law School. Following my first year of law school (summer 2021), I interned with the National Labor Relations Board. For the summer of 2022, I was awarded a Peggy Browning Fellowship with the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers in Washington, D.C. This fall (2023) I will begin my final year of law school.
What impact has the HTUP had on your life/career?
HTUP allowed me to meet others who are passionate about labor, from various crafts, and from different geographic locations. As a result of this experience, I realized I wanted to expand my opportunities to represent workers. As such, HTUP was the impetus for me to pursue a J.D.
